Kim and Kyile Passmore outside the family Dojo
Children in successful synchronised kata
The importance of correct attitude, is vital to the
advancement of each child.. It is also quite normal to run these children's classes in the
normal Dojo, at regular times separate from the senior classes.
The emphasis in the children classes is toward social
development, co-ordination, improvement in academic and scholastic development,
self esteem, integration within a family unit, and, of course self defence. One
of the encouragement programmes for our children's classes, is the use of merit
type awards and badges, such as those used in a number of outdoor types of
organisations.
Self defence is not the dominant factor in the age groups that train within
the children's classes, however, this comes to the fore at a later stage in the
training scheme, when the children advance to the junior high, high school and
adult classes.
